Key outcomes and responsibilities:
- Predominantly workshop-based role focused on the TIG welding and fabrication of frames, conveyors, and sheet metal assemblies to a high standard.
- Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings to fabricate and assemble components accurately, ensuring all specifications and tolerances are met.
- Carry out precision TIG welding (primary process) on stainless steel, with occasional MIG welding where required.
- Fabricate, tack, and finish weld components for conveyor systems, structural frames, and bespoke sheet metal fabrications.
- Safely operate workshop machinery including guillotines, saws, rollers, drills, and grinders, ensuring correct usage at all times and maintaining a clean, organised workspace.
- Inspect own work to ensure high-quality welds, clean finishes, and compliance with company and customer standards.
- Work efficiently to meet production schedules and project deadlines, supporting smooth workflow within the workshop.
- Follow all health & safety procedures, with particular attention to welding safety, material handling, and equipment use.
- Collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and design teams to resolve fabrication challenges and improve build quality.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are stored correctly and kept in good working condition.
Requirements Essential
- Proven experience in TIG welding (minimum 4-5 years) within a workshop or fabrication environment
- Experience working with sheet metal, frames, and/or conveyor systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on high-quality, clean welds and finishes.
- Good understanding of workshop processes and safe use of fabrication machinery.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Located within a commutable distance of IP22 1LP.
Desirable
- Experience within food, beverage, or energy sectors (particularly hygienic or stainless steel fabrication).
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Forklift Licence.
- CSCS Card.
